A translator transfers a written message from one language into a written message in another language, for the purpose of communication between a writer and reader who do not share the same language.

Translators work with documents from certain typical domains and types, depending on the certification they hold.

A statement of the values, principles and rules of a profession which regulates the conduct of its members. 

The Community Language Aide (CLA) Test is appropriate for anyone needing to communicate at a basic level in a Language Other Than English (LOTE) in the workplace. 

An individual who has passed a CLA test is not qualified to act as an interpreter or translator. 

Demonstrated performance in an area of competency at or above a standard. 

A set of KSAs an individual must have, or acquire, to successfully perform a specific task. 

Containing various connected components (such as morphemes, clauses, ideas and conditions) which, as a whole, are meaningful, without recurrence or repetition of the same components.
