Section outline

  • This section contains a link to the online NAATI testing platform, allowing you to practice using the system on which you will complete the interpreting test component of the CSHI test (spoken languages).

The practice interpreting test includes the following tasks, of comparable complexity and length as a standard NAATI CSHI test (spoken languages):

    • One consecutive interpreting – English into LOTE monologue task
    • One consecutive interpreting – LOTE into English monologue task
    • One simultaneous interpreting – English into LOTE monolingual exchange task
    • One simultaneous interpreting – LOTE into English mental health monologue task

(Note: In the practice test, the LOTE into English tasks are in Mandarin. If your test is in a different LOTE, you can refer to the English glosses for the content of the tasks. Practice tests for other LOTEs will be gradually added to this module.)

You should record yourself on a separate device (e.g. phone or audio recorder) to watch/listen back later and reflect on your performance with reference to the marking rubrics.

Before sitting the test, it is important that you go through the whole practice test. If you experience any technical issues playing the practice material audios on your computer, check and see if you have met the equipment and system requirements under ‘What you will need’ in the candidate information. You need to use Google Chrome browser to access the test materials.

Practice tests are provided for your own preparation. You will not receive any results or feedback from NAATI.
