This training package is designed to support interpreters working in diverse pregnancy care settings across Australia. Modules include information about the design and delivery of maternity care in Australia, common tests and investigations offered during pregnancy, approaches to stillbirth prevention, and interpreter wellbeing and self-care. The package includes a total of 6 self-paced learning modules, each taking approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
The MINDSET training familiarises interpreters with all aspects of dementia and its impact on cognitive and linguistic ability; explains the tools used to assess and diagnose dementia; and engages interpreters with effective interpreting strategies for cognitive assessments. This course has been designed to improve the quality of interpreter communication in cognitive assessments for dementia.
This module is for interpreters who will be working in the Aotearoa New Zealand public sector from 1 July 2024. In this module you'll learn about:
- Aotearoa’s context, linguistic history and public sector
- the unique way te reo Māori influences the language used in Aotearoa
- NAATI credentialing requirements.
We'll also show you other resources that you can use to continue your professional development. Completing this module is compulsory for all interpreters working in the Aotearoa New Zealand public sector from 1 July 2024.
This webinar provides an in-depth overview of the role interpreters play in New Zealand’s refugee and protection determination process. Participants will gain insight into the Refugee Status Unit (RSU), the legal framework surrounding refugee claims, and the structure of RSU interviews. The session emphasises the importance of interpreters in ensuring fairness, accuracy, and confidentiality during interviews. It also outlines best practices and expectations for interpreters working with asylum seekers.
