Bilingual workers and NAATI certified interpreters play different but complementary roles within the provision of language services. Bilingual workers who have passed the Community Language Aide (CLA) test are not qualified to act as a NAATI certified interpreter. It is important that the language competency level and role boundaries of bilingual workers within your workplace are clear to staff, customers and clients.
